A partnership of local Faith Communities and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)FarmersFeeding the Soil AND the hungry!
Our primary goal is to share in the bounty and the risks of farmers growing food in our area by encouraging members of the community to invest in a farm. In a CSA relationship households become members of a farm by paying their “share” at the beginning of the season. Each farm offers its own specialties, price, size and delivery options. We, the members of the community, receive a weekly box of fresh, delicious, nutritious food throughout the growing season. Eating locally and seasonally improves our economy, the health of our bodies and of our planet and increases food security while reducing our carbon footprint.
Our second goal is to provide food grown with love and care to the increasing number of people in our community who can afford it the least. Through our Low Income Fund we are able to distribute funds to our farm partners so that they may provide CSA food shares for those who cannot afford them. This money is raised through donations from area faith communities as well as private donors and money raised at our annual That’s My Farmer Celebration and other fund-raising events.
Checks should be made out to That’s My Farmer, with “TMF Low Income Fund” in the memo line, if your community would like to donate.
Faith Communities and Farmers contribute money towards our Operating Fund which is used to produce activities. Faith Communities are asked to contribute between $50 and $100 and farmers $50 for this venture.
Checks should be made out to TMF with TMF Operating Fund in the memo line.
Faith Communities in Eugene and Springfield and the surrounding area are also invited to join the That’s My Farmer Partnership.
